If you’re looking for technology, you can rarely get past the two largest technology retailers Media Markt and Saturn – even if they are both actually one company. But not only a huge selection of electronics awaits customers in the stores, but also online in the online shop.
Especially if you are the largest retailer in the industry, you don’t want to lose customers and that’s exactly why both retailers set up a bonus program for their customers called MySaturn or MyMediaMarkt years ago.
Saturn in an imbalance? Reason for the merger?
In the meantime, however, some information is gradually leaking out that Saturn is gradually withdrawing from the business. This can be seen not only in the fact that Saturn stores are gradually disappearing, but have suddenly been redecorated with the name of the parent company Media Markt.
This is also the case with the respective bonus programs, which have so far been managed separately from each other. For example, customers had to set up a separate account with a bonus program for the respective brand, but this will also change.
Bonus programs to be merged
Since Media Markt now wants to position itself more on the market – and not only by taking over Saturn stores, but also in online operation – both bonus programs that can still be used will be merged so that you only need one account to be able to save equally.
From June 11, 2025, the time has come, because then there will be virtually only the MyMediaMarkt account, where bonus points, coupons and also orders from Saturn are listed. However, the customer can still decide which coupon he wants to use for which shop.
Merger comes automatically
As a customer, you don’t have to pay attention to anything else, because from the cut-off date, the accounts of Saturn and Media Markt will be merged all by themselves. Points balance, wish lists, shopping cart and also the order history can then be viewed centrally in one access.
Terms and conditions of participation and data protection notices were already sent out by the group in the course of the merger and automatically applied. This way, customers do not have to do anything for the switch, as these terms and notices will come into force automatically. However, those who do not want to do so would have to file an objection by June 9, 2025. The objection is only interesting for people who have only used one of the two bonus programs so far.
It is important here that the account is deleted by an objection. For example, all customers will have to set up a new account from the changeover. Old coupons and points will then no longer be available in the new account.
